It may seem that no harm can come from putting your feet up and enjoying a leisurely wash, cut and blow-dry. Who doesn’t love that?
But it turns out that this simple pleasure can actually harm the planet.
In Australiasia alone the hairdressing industry sends more than two million kilos of waste to dump each year.
This waste is seeping into our waterways and natural habitats, causing damage beyond what we can imagine or even measure.
But it really doesn’t have to be this way.
Of course, your welcome to swear off cutting your hair forever and embrace an unkempt mane, but you may want to consider a less dramatic solution first.
Sustainable Salons ANZ has created a unique recycling system, which is at the heart of this crusade. These guys are working hard with businesses to create projects that are kind to our planet and to humanity. Even your hair gets recycled. (Yes you read that correctly).
We are excited to say that we have joined sustainable salons. This revolutionary resource recovery program is designed for our salon to achieve zero waste, reduce our carbon footprint, and implement sustainable work practices that benefit the local community.
Who says sustainability can’t be glamorous? You don’t have to sacrifice the bounce in your hair, or join a commune, to help the planet. Go ahead, put your feet up, and take comfort in the fact that your salon is part of a movement that is working to protect the Earth, and give back to the community.
How does it work?
For less than the price of coffee, 95% of the resources used during your service will be diverted from landfill and sent for recycling thanks to this partnership.
~All the proceeds gained from recycling the salons metals will be donated to kiwi harvest feeding New Zealanders in need.
~Plastic bottles, packaging and bags are recycled into new products and kept out of our oceans.
~Any leftover chemicals will be recycled into water and used in construction and road works.
~Cut of hair will support charitable causes such as oil spill clean-up projects, local community gardens and charitable wig making services.
~When our tools reach their end of life, they will be broken down and all valuable parts will be repurposed.
So what does this mean for you?
Each time you visit our Sustainable Salon your service bill will include a small Green Service Fee of just $2 that will support the salon to keep its commitment to sustainability without compromising the quality of service we offer you.
So now each time you visit our sustainable salon you can feel good about doing good!
